The human guests were nearly as wild as the canine ones at a Humane Society of the United States gala on Friday.
While one dog spilled a drink on a socialite and peed on a carpet, spies at Cipriani 42nd Street said presenter Chevy Chase was “a train wreck” and “out of it” till he slammed Mike Ovitz — whose designer daughter attended the event.
Chase took the stage at the “To the Rescue!” gala with one of his daughters and introduced Georgina Bloomberg, Amanda Hearst and Kimberly Ovitz. But “Chevy rambled on and repeated himself,” said a guest. “No one could tell if it was an act, but his daughter was teasing him, pointing to the script and telling him to read it.”
Then, “by the middle of his speech, she seemed serious about telling him to stop talking and read.”
With #SNL40 trending high on Twitter tonight, lots of eyes are on the “Saturday Night Live” special. As the stars began to pour in for the evening’s events, one appearance grabbed viewers attention when a clearly uncomfortable Chevy Chase endured a painful red carpet interview with NBC’s Carson Daly. Chevy apologized for sweating and looked incredulous as Daly sounded as if he were diminishing Chevy’s contributions to the 'SNL' legacy. Ouch.
